Location: Colchester, Essex

Job Type: Part Time 8:30am to 11:30am, 5 days a week☀️

Daily Rate: £12 – £14 per hour

SEN TA Job Colchester. We are seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants to join a mainstream primary school in Colchester, supporting a non-verbal child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Key Stage 1. In this role, you will play a key part in providing the care and assistance needed to help the child fully engage with their individual learning plan. The position is part-time, from 8:30 am to 11:30 am, with potential for full-time consideration. The SEN TA will offer one-on-one support outside of the classroom. The child is a joy to work with, though he presents some challenging behaviours and has specific sensory needs.

Responsibilities for SEN TA:

Provide one-on-one support to child with SEN outside of the main classroom.
Help child with their academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
Collaborate with the classroom teacher and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Support child with personal care needs, where necessary, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Monitor and record student progress, maintaining accurate records.

Requirements for SEN TA:

Experience working with children with special educational needs, preferably in an educational or care setting as a SEN TA.
A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach, with the ability to establish rapport with students and gain their trust.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
Knowledge of various special educational needs and the ability to adapt support strategies accordingly.
A positive attitude, flexibility, and resilience in handling challenging situations.
Relevant qualifications/certificates (e.g., CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools, Autism Awareness, Makaton, etc.) are desirable but not essential.
