The Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Computer Studies Teacher to join a dynamic secondary school in London. This is a full-time supply role with the possibility of a long-term position for the right candidate. The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching Computer Studies to students aged 11-16 (Key Stage 3 & 4) and will help foster students’ understanding of digital literacy, programming, and computing skills. We are looking for a teacher who is passionate about technology and can engage students in an exciting and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Computer Studies lessons that align with the UK National Curriculum.
Teach Computer Studies to Key Stage 3 and 4 students, covering topics such as digital literacy, programming (e.g., Python), data management, and internet safety.
Ensure lessons are differentiated to meet the needs of all learners, using a variety of teaching techniques to engage students with different learning styles.
Prepare and support students for assessments and GCSE exams, providing constructive feedback and guidance for improvement.
Promote a safe and supportive learning environment where students feel confident to explore and develop their computing skills.
Manage classroom behavior effectively and foster a positive and focused learning environment.
Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records and communicating progress with parents/carers when necessary.
Collaborate with the IT department and other teaching staff to ensure a coherent approach to the Computer Studies curriculum.
Stay updated with the latest developments in computing education and integrate new technologies into the classroom.
Uphold the school’s safeguarding policies and ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

Requirements:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
Strong knowledge of the UK Computer Studies/ICT curriculum, with a focus on programming, digital literacy, and computational thinking.
Previous experience teaching Computer Studies/ICT at secondary level (Key Stage 3 & 4).
Confidence in using a range of programming languages, tools, and software relevant to the curriculum (e.g., Python, HTML, Scratch).
Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
A valid DBS check or willingness to undergo one.

Desirable:

Experience preparing students for GCSE Computer Science exams.
Experience in a supply or cover teaching role in secondary schools.
Familiarity with emerging trends in technology and computing education.
Willingness to contribute to extracurricular activities such as coding clubs or digital projects.
