Daily Rate: £85-£95 per day
1:1 LSA Braintree. We are currently seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and patient SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work on a 1:1 basis. You will be supporting a child with Down Syndrome at a nurturing and inclusive primary school in Braintree. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the child’s educational and personal development.

Responsibilities for 1:1 LSA Sudbury:
- 1:1 Learning Support: Work closely with the child to help them engage with their learning, focusing on building their confidence and understanding of key concepts in a supportive and structured environment.
- Behaviour Support: Implement and reinforce positive behaviour strategies, helping the child develop emotional regulation, social interaction skills, and a sense of independence.
- Personal Care: Assist the child with personal care needs as required, ensuring their dignity and well-being are always maintained.
- Collaboration with Teachers: Work in close collaboration with the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to follow and implement the child’s Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP), adapting learning activities to meet their specific needs.
- Sensory and Physical Activities: Incorporate sensory play and physical activities that promote both cognitive and physical development, helping the child stay engaged and stimulated throughout the school day.
- Progress Monitoring: Keep detailed records of the child’s progress, behaviour, and any challenges, providing regular feedback to the SENCO and parents to ensure a collaborative approach to their development.
- Fostering Independence: Encourage the child to develop self-help skills, supporting them in gaining more independence in tasks such as learning, social interaction, and personal care.
- Inclusion and Social Development: Help integrate the child into the classroom environment, encouraging positive interaction with peers and fostering a sense of inclusion and belonging.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly Down Syndrome.
- A compassionate and patient approach to supporting children with additional needs.
- Knowledge of effective strategies for behavior management and emotional support.
- Ability to assist with personal care tasks in a respectful and supportive manner.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and other staff.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed records of the child’s progress and needs.
- A genuine passion for working with children and helping them achieve their potential.
- Relevant qualifications/certificates (e.g., CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools, Autism Awareness, Makaton, etc.) are desirable but not essential.
