Daily Rate: £85-£95 per day
YR6 TA Jobs Colchester. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN TA to support Year 6 pupils through focused group work and general classroom support. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in helping children engage in learning and daily activities, offering tailored support to meet their unique needs.
You will be working 2 days a week in a nurturing and inclusive environment, committed to providing the highest standard of education and support for all pupils, including those with special educational needs. If you’re passionate about making a positive impact, we’d love to hear from you!
Responsibilities for YR6 TA Jobs Colchester:
- Provide 1:1 support and group work support to children in Year 6.
- Implement sensory stimulation activities that are tailored to the child’s needs, helping them to engage with their environment and learning.
- Assist with the use of alternative communication methods, such as PECS, Makaton, or other communication aids.
- Help maintain a structured and calm learning environment to support the child’s emotional and sensory regulation.
- Work closely with the SENCO, class teacher, and external specialists to follow and implement the child’s education, health, and care plan (EHCP).
- Support the child with personal care needs, if required.
- Monitor the child’s progress, maintaining detailed records, and providing feedback to the SENCO and parents.
- Build a positive and trusting relationship with the child to support their social and emotional development.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working with children, particularly those with SEND
- Knowledge of sensory needs and experience in implementing sensory-based learning or therapeutic activities.
- Familiarity with communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, or alternative communication systems.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, working closely with teachers, specialists, and parents.
- Ability to provide personal care, if required.
- A relevant qualification in SEN support or childcare (desirable but not essential) e.g. CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools, Autism Awareness, Makaton, etc
