Pay: £85-£95 per day

Are you passionate about supporting young learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other Learning Disabilities?

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to provide one-on-one support to a child in Basildon.

The Role:

In this role, you will be working closely with a child who requires educational and emotional support throughout the day. He thrives on routine, but like many children with ASD, he may exhibit challenging behaviours when routines are disrupted.

You will establish and maintain a structured and consistent routine to create a stable environment in which the student can flourish. Utilize your expertise in ASD and behaviour management to help the student navigate challenging behaviours and develop coping strategies. Work on transitioning the student into the classroom setting, providing a supportive and gradual introduction process.

Initially, you will be working with the student in a separate and dedicated room to ensure a comfortable and distraction-free environment. It is essential to have a deep understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and experience working with children on the spectrum. Your expertise in managing challenging behaviours will be invaluable in this role.

Requirements:

Previous experience working with children with ADHD or other SEN.
Knowledge of sensory needs and experience in implementing sensory-based learning or therapeutic activities.
Patience, understanding, and the ability to keep students on task.
Familiarity with communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, or alternative communication systems.
Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, working closely with teachers, specialists, and parents.
Ability to provide personal care, if required.
A relevant qualification in SEN support or childcare (desirable but not essential) e.g. CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools, Autism Awareness, Makaton, etc
