4myschools are looking for a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to work at a Primary School in Attleborough, Norfolk.

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team at a primary school in Attleborough for the Summer Term. The successful candidate will be supporting a Year 2 child with high needs, working closely with them both in and out of the classroom setting. This role is key in helping the child transition back into mainstream school after being part of the SRB (Specialist Resource Base) provision, and they will be attending the school for three days a week starting after the Easter holidays. This is a part time role working Tuesday morning and Wednesday, Thursday and Friday all day.

The child has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and has experienced trauma. We are looking for someone who is sensitive, patient, and able to provide consistent support in a nurturing environment. Experience working with children with additional needs or trauma would be beneficial.

Key Responsibilities for a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant :

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to a female Year 2 child with high needs.
  • Support the child in both classroom and outdoor activities, ensuring they have access to the curriculum.
  • Help the child to engage with peers and teachers, supporting social integration and communication.
  • Encourage the child’s independence and emotional well-being, responding sensitively to their needs.
  • Implement strategies from the child’s EHCP in collaboration with the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Support with any additional learning needs or behavioural challenges that may arise.
  • Assist in the development of an inclusive and supportive learning environment for the child.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN), particularly those with trauma, would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of the challenges and strategies for supporting children with an EHCP.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to supporting children with high needs.
  • Excellent communication skills with both children and adults.
  • A strong commitment to providing a nurturing, inclusive, and positive learning experience.
