4myschools are looking for a dedicated and caring 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Potters Bar from January 2025
This role will focus on providing 1:1 support to a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring they have the best possible learning experience in a nurturing and structured environment. The position is for afternoons only (12:15 PM to 3:30 PM) and is initially for at least one term, with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant:
- Provide 1:1 support for a child with SEN, helping them engage with the curriculum and develop their social and academic skills.
- Support the child with tasks, ensuring they understand the learning materials and can participate in activities.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored strategies and support plans.
- Help with classroom management and ensuring the child’s safety and wellbeing.
- Monitor progress and assist in the preparation of reports and assessments as required.
Requirements:
1:1 Teaching Assistant Role
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN, ideally on a 1:1 basis.
- A patient, compassionate, and understanding approach.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
- A proactive attitude and a genuine interest in supporting children’s learning and development.
- A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) would be desirable, but not essential.
- A good understanding of strategies to support children with special educational needs, especially those with individual learning needs.
