The Role:
We are seeking a passionate and creative Art Teacher to join a great secondary school in London. This is a full-time supply role with the potential to become long-term for the right candidate. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging art lessons to students aged 11-16 (Key Stage 3 & 4), fostering creativity, and helping students develop their artistic skills and confidence. The successful candidate will be well-versed in the UK Art and Design curriculum and committed to promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Art lessons in line with the UK National Curriculum.
Teach Art and Design to students in Key Stage 3 and 4, ensuring that all students are able to express themselves creatively and develop their artistic skills.
Use a variety of teaching methods to engage students with different learning styles.
Foster a creative, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
Assess and provide feedback on student progress, setting achievable goals and helping students reach their full potential.
Prepare students for their GCSE exams in Art and Design, providing appropriate guidance and support.
Manage classroom behavior and promote a positive learning atmosphere.
Collaborate with other teachers and staff to enhance the Art curriculum and participate in extracurricular activities such as art clubs or exhibitions.
Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times, following the school’s safeguarding policies.
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
Strong knowledge of the UK Art and Design curriculum.
Previous experience teaching Art at secondary level (Key Stage 3 & 4).
A passion for art and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles.
A commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity within the classroom.
A valid DBS check or willingness to undergo one.
Desirable:
Experience with GCSE Art and Design assessment.
Experience in working in a supply or long-term cover role.
Ability to contribute to extracurricular activities and school exhibitions.
