Located in the heart of Cambridge the College is a prestigious institution known for its academic excellence and historic campus. We are looking for a dedicated and reliable Caretaker to join our facilities team and contribute to the upkeep and smooth running of our college grounds.

Role Overview: As a Caretaker you will be responsible for ensuring the college campus remains clean, safe, and well-maintained. This is a hands-on role, requiring both practical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will work closely with the Facilities Manager and other team members to create a welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities for a College Caretaker

• General maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and campus facilities.
• Cleaning and ensuring hygiene standards across common areas, classrooms, and offices.
• Performing basic repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and general building work.
• Assisting with setting up rooms for events, conferences, and other activities.
• Ensuring safety and security by checking and maintaining locks, alarms, and other security systems.
• Responding promptly to emergencies and addressing any immediate facilities concerns.
• Liaising with contractors and external suppliers when required.
• Maintaining an inventory of supplies and equipment.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a caretaker, maintenance, or similar role.
• Basic knowledge of building systems (plumbing, electrical, etc.) and general maintenance.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• A flexible and adaptable attitude to tasks and hours.
