ESC/PRU Part Time Science Teacher Job Hertford
Location: KS3 Centre, Hertford, Hertfordshire
Contract Type: Part-Time (3 days per week)
Dates: January to Easter 2025
4myschools are seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-Time Science Teacher to join our team at our KS3 Centre in Hertford.
This role offers the opportunity to teach general science to students in Years 7-9, with a focus on Years 8-9. The ideal candidate will be confident in managing a small class size (maximum 4 students per class) and will benefit from the support of a Teaching Assistant in every lesson. As an Education Support Centre / Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), our students face additional challenges, including behavioural issues. Therefore, we require a teacher who is not only skilled in delivering engaging science lessons but also able to effectively manage and respond to challenging behaviours. The role will require resilience, patience, and a strong commitment to creating a positive learning environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities for a ESC/PRU Part Time Science Teacher:
- Teach general science to pupils in Years 7-9 (primarily Years 8-9)
- Develop and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons
- Work collaboratively with a teaching assistant in each class to support students’ learning
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively and maintain a positive learning atmosphere
- Adapt teaching methods to suit the individual needs of students
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
Requirements for a ESC/PRU Part Time Science Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teaching science at Key Stage 3 level
- Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to deal with challenging behaviours
- Resilience and flexibility to work within an alternative provision environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team
- Excellent communication skills and a commitment to student welfare
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience working in a PRU or alternative provision setting
- Experience working with students with complex behavioural needs
Please note, this role is not suitable for Early Career Teachers (ECTs) or Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs).
