SEN LSA Ipswich, Suffolk. Are you an experienced SEN LSA with a background in supporting learners with additional needs in either a mainstream or special needs setting? Are you seeking a rewarding and fulfilling role?

We are working with a local secondary school that offers a dedicated provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This role provides the opportunity to work in a nurturing environment with small class sizes, and you’ll be part of a close-knit, supportive team.

Many of the students are non-verbal, so strong communication skills are essential. You will need to use creative, clear, and engaging methods to help students understand, often through repetition. Some students will also require personal care, so the ability to provide this support is important.

While the role can be challenging due to unpredictable behaviours, it is incredibly rewarding, offering the chance to make a real difference in the lives of children who need it most. If you’re patient, compassionate, and ready to take on a new challenge, we’d love to hear from you!

About the role

SEN LSA to offer one to one and group support to pupils with ASD across KS3 & 4. Some pupils are non verbal so experience using communication aids like PECs and Makaton would be advantageous.
You will not only assist the children with various curriculum learning activities but also have dedicated time to focus on this specific developmental area using P Levels to track all areas of development and progression.
This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity, but the school are keen to take on permanent SEN LSAs straight away.

The ideal candidate will have:

Have previous experience working with children who have additional needs – aged from 11-16 years, however, other experience is also welcomed.
A level 3 qualification would be beneficial but is not essential.
Able to demonstrate the flexibility and understanding to work with learners with a range of needs.
