Daily Rate: £85-£95 per day no Umbrella
Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and ready to make a meaningful difference in a child’s life? We are seeking a compassionate and experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated one-to-one support for a non-verbal Year 2 child with undiagnosed ASD.
This rewarding role requires a patient, empathetic, and resourceful individual who can utilize communication aids such as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and visual timetables to support the child’s learning and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 support to a Year 2 child with undiagnosed ASD.
- Use communication aids such as PECS and visual timetables to support the child’s communication and understanding.
- Assist in implementing personalized learning and behaviour support plans.
- Foster a structured, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with the class teacher and SEN team to ensure the child’s academic, emotional, and social needs are met.
- Promote the child’s confidence, engagement, and independence in school activities.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with ADHD or other SEN.
- Knowledge of sensory needs and experience in implementing sensory-based learning or therapeutic activities.
- Patience, understanding, and the ability to keep students on task.
- Familiarity with communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, or alternative communication systems.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, working closely with teachers, specialists, and parents.
- Ability to provide personal care, if required.
- A relevant qualification in SEN support or childcare (desirable but not essential) e.g. CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools, Autism Awareness, Makaton, etc
