Supply Teacher Interview process
Most good school recruitment agencies are dedicated to finding teachers their perfect permanent teaching or supply teaching role. It’s not about placing you in a school and leaving you. It is about delivering value from the start.
When a teacher first calls to register their interest, we run through a brief pre interview telephone assessment to find out as much detail as we can about you. This is an essential part of the registration process. It gives us an early insight to your teaching history and helps us to understand you and your ambitions. Once completed and we have ascertained how we can assist you we will invite you to meet with us. For the obligatory (for safeguarding purposes) face-to-face interview. The supply teacher interview is typically held over teams, in one of our offices or at a local mutually agreed location to make the process easier for you. You can register with 4myschools at any point in the year.
Register here!In advance of the meeting we send you an email inviting you to the interview and detailing all the documents we require to see from you. It’s really important that you bring originals of all the listed documentation below. Anything missed may delay the registration and clearance process.
Documents required are:
- Photographic ID Driving licence/Passport.
- National Insurance number.
- 2 proofs of address issued within the last 3 months.
- Recent pay slip.
- NCTL number.
- Teaching qualification certificates.
- DBS with update subscription.
- Copy of your CV.
- Overseas Police check if you have worked out of the UK within the last year.
At the supply teacher interview we will discuss in more detail what schools you would to work with, positions we currently have available, and your work history. We go into detail about what additional duties you had taken on at your previous schools. This will start to build a picture of your successful teaching career. A dedicated member of our compliance team will sight your documents. They will also carry out the necessary checks to get you cleared through the vetting system and ready to work as quickly as practical.
If you are unsure of anything during the process you should ask the recruitment consultant to elaborate and explain what and why they are asking. We want you to feel comfortable during our registration process. This is why it is essential for our consultants to understand your needs and anything you are specifically looking for. This is also a great time to ask any questions regarding the role of a supply teacher.
When the interview has finished, your consultant will introduce you to others in the recruitment team. We do this as we often find supply teachers will work across County “boundaries” e.g. supply teachers based in Colchester will often venture across the Suffolk border and vice versa.
After the interview
We aim to clear all supply teachers in approximately 10 days from initial registration. However this is often dependent on the DBS and references. As both of these aspects tend to introduce the greatest delays to the clearing times.
Whilst your documents are being cleared if you have specified that you’re interested in a long term role, your recruitment consultant will have started speaking to schools about you to try and find your ideal role. 4myschools often place teachers in there ideal role before we have completely cleared them through the vetting process. Providing we have done the necessary checks and the school are happy to interview you knowing clearance has not been completed. This part of the service is about registering with a company who are dedicated and pro-active in finding you your dream teaching role as soon as they possibly can.
There are typically a number of job adverts on the free for schools jobs board. We encourage all our teachers to view these jobs regularly as they change daily, especially towards the beginning of a new term.
The 4myschools team is very experienced and happy to advise you or answer any questions you may have about registering. Please give us a call on 01245 353808 to start the search for your perfect teaching job or fill in your details below.
